Large Virtualization Project for CSE

Demstar Information Group, has successfully implemented a new Server Virtualization Project for the Cyprus Stock Exchange. The value of the project was €145,000. The project consisted of the installation of a new state of the art EVA storage P6500 from HP and the migration of data from the existing Storage System to the new one.

The new P6500 EVA Storage delivers virtualized storage for the enterprise customer, enabling storage consolidation with optimized capacity utilization and simple management. New HP Blade servers were also installed in C7000 enclosure and configured to act as Active directory and Backup active Directory servers configured both in Physical as well as in Virtual environment running on HA mode. More servers are using the virtual infrastructure, which was implemented using VMware virtualization infrastructure. A large number of servers were moved from physical to virtual. Microsoft Exchange 2010 was also configured in a cluster, both instances running as virtual machines.

ARCserve backup from CA was used to back up all data using a fiber tape library. Veeam backup and replication will take care of backing up all virtual machines giving the CSE the ability to bring back their virtual environment (applications and data) quickly and easily should something happen. The implementation of this new Virtual Solution has given the CSE the ability to consolidate several servers, thus saving space and power, while utilizing more of the capabilities their new servers offer. CSE will also benefit from the added security of having back up and replication as well as having their systems running in High Availability mode.
